Dr. Elizabeth Kerner was raised in the Dallas area and is a graduate of Richardson High School. Following her Cum Laude graduation from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, she attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Kerner completed her general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Affiliated Hospitals in Nashville. Her plastic surgery residency was done at Wayne State University Medical Center in Detroit. She entered private practice in the Dallas area in 1987. Enjoying both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Kerner focuses mainly on breast surgery, facial surgery, and liposuction.

Board certification is an two-stage examination by which a plastic surgeon proves that he/she has an extended level of training and expertise in the various areas of plastic surgery. In 1992, Dr. Kerner was awarded her Board Certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Medical Association). She is currently a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society. She is an active member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. She served as the 2002 President for the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and was the 1999 President of the Medical Staff at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.

Dr. Kerner was voted A Best Plastic Surgeon in the 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Scripps Community Newspaper’s Readers’ Choice for Collin County. She received a Patients’ Choice Award in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, and the Patient’s Choice 5th Anniversary Award in 2014. She has also been recognized with the Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2012 and 2013, On-Time Doctor Award in 2014, and a Top 10 Plano Doctor Award in 2014. Dr. was named to D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas in 2014 and Best Doctors in Collin County in 2016.

Dr. Kerner, and her husband, Steve, have two sons, Alex and Christian. She enjoys cooking, crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, gardening, and spin classes.
