Dr. Zehr graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine earning his M.D. degree in 1975. He then moved to Springfield, Illinois where he completed his orthopaedic surgery training at Southern Illinois University.
He then pursued further training in surgery of the hand and upper extremity in Los Angeles with Dr. Joseph Boyes.
He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has received the Certificate of Added Qualifications for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Zehr is an expert in upper extremity trauma, a renowned microvascular surgeon and one of the world’s best physicians at replanting amputated parts.
He is the primary upper extremity trauma specialist at Baylor University Medical Center and performs outpatient procedures at Valley View Surgery Center.
He has been a member of the teaching service and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Memorial Hospital.
